That despite, or because of, having three desks, bed is the best place to work.

That it is possible to spend all day in bed and justifiably claim to be working.

That pyjamas and a dressing gown are perfectly acceptable office attire.

That it is possible to emerge from bed after several days looking semi-decomposed and realise that you have not left the flat or spoken to anyone in that time.

That between 1 and 4am is the best time to work, because by then:
- the neighbours behind your very thin walls have stopped playing music/watching TV/shouting at their children/marching up and down above your head/having shouted mobile phone conversations beneath your window
- there is nothing much else you can reasonably do
- there is no one you can call
- no one else is on Facebook
- you are wide awake because you slept until midday this morning (because you worked till 4am the previous night).

That it is possible to waste an entire day checking your various e-mails, Facebook and Google on a kind of moronic loop.

That it is best to have several projects on the go at once so that you can pick up one to serve as your default option when avoiding working on another.

That while you are able to work with maximum efficiency when someone else is standing over you and giving you a framework, you find it impossible to work at all when you have only yourself to please.

That you will therefore always do the work for other people first, leaving no time for your own projects.

That compiling vocabulary lists (using the Search function across an entire book) is possibly the most mind-numbing activity on the planet.

That while bed is the best place to work in the house, you get more done in a cafe.

That you have to find a job that will get you out of the house and into the company of other people for at least a few hours a week before you start becoming just a little bit scary.

I only read blogs to find out a little bit more information behind a subject; what a reporter can't put in a main report, or a bit of insight. For example, I read the sport blogs on the BBC website as they give their (the journist) view on what is happening, not a black and white, full of facts report. Some of the things that I read, I probably don't realise that they are a blog; I know that to be the case with the guardian website.

Interesting poll...will check back for the results. It would also interesting to know what industries the respondants are in.

Hi Melanie,

It may be that Laura got the idea for the website from you, however she suggested it to me and so gets the mention. Next time I do this if you have a website you would like to suggest, please do send it to me as I can only mention only the people who submit ideas.
